...but we don't have to wait a year on this. WASM can't describe JS objects or access them. It has literally failed to be an assembly for the web....and that's a wasted opportunity to build a better, more layered web.

Not a panacea, but I'd hardly call it a wasted opportunity or failure. I'll concede that the "Web" in WebAssembly might be a bit of a misnomer, but Node isn't particularly "Webby" either, and it brought enormous gains (and legitimacy!) to the Web as a platform.
