Data could be wrong in some way, but something like 20% of SWs are > 85K (unzipped, on disk, including importScripts() deps). What the heck are y'all putting in there?
I mean the Service Worker scripts themselves; the code that people are using for their network proxies and push message handling. No DOM access, full ES6 support (so shouldn't need to transpile), etc. etc.

My apologies, thought you were talking about the cached scripts. Could it be tools like workbox (first name that come to mind but there's a few) which generate bloaty SW?

Yeah, they might. There seems to be a big spike in the histogram around a particular value, so it might just be one big site. Will look.
