Key. React gave us ability to render Components as children, passing rich data in attrs. wc can't match w/o higher abstraction a la Skate

This is confused. You were always able to do this via DOM. React added a customer (non-HTML) parser on top of DOM.

What I'm hearing is "I like JSX, HTML is a pain". Cool, but that's not about Web Components or ability to pass props.

Wait, hold up. Are you saying, w/ raw wc, I can do <div> <my-widget fn="obj.fn"> where obj is an object somewhere, with a fn method on it?

That's HTML markup. You have confused serialized (HTML) with deserialized (DOM). *sigh*

I *just* want the same ergonomics as React. This shouldn't be fought by wc folks tho—start advertising
@treshugart's Skate - seems awesome!3 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

Cool; add JSX on top of them. You don't need all the rest of the junk.

Quick question. Do WCs give me any virtual DOM diffing? I trust that's a framework level abstraction I'll need to build.

Since they're just objects with lifecycle methods and support for deserialization, I guess I'll need a different deserialization implementation that diffs and renders to DOM.

You might look at something like Skate if that's what you want. Polymer users just stick to "events up, data down" and avoid VDOM costs.

I'm _super_ excited for the combo of Skate and either lit or hyper html.

Skate feels like too much. This ought to be just a vdom implementation + WCs + layer to hook up the two.
