I.e., you can make something in an framework that doesn't code-split. That this is the norm today is 0_o

It's malpractice to make or adopt tools that don't do this by default, yet here we are discussing micro issues...

That's the thing: React does code split by default. W the full lang at your fingers, not a watered down template dsl, can import() as needed

Hmm - that is opt-in, which is not a default. By default would require it without a code change.

How's it opt-in? It works out of the box with webpack.

Installing Loadable and choosing to use import() is how one opts in. To understand this I recommend looking at a preact-cli app.

We went to a lot of effort in the CLI to make this a real default - if you have a router, we'll find it and make all your routes lazy-loaded

route based splitting is obvious, but incomplete.

Of course! But we can still clearly and loudly say that tools which don't *at least* set this up for you are negligent.

This, in turn, undermines the web as a medium for all. Nobody wants to swim in fetid water.

Leaving decent perf for mobile users as an exercise to the reader *without disclaimers or warnings* is irresponsible...yet also the norm!?!!
