Hopefully your team doesn't do the "Write a JS Sudoku solver" type interview tests. (Burned *twice* now by this in a Google interview.)

In both cases -- webdev & CS fundamentals -- the goal is to find people who can step back and ask "is this a reasonable approach?"

i can see someone being *very* familiar with HTML, DOM, JS, and CSS and knowing *zip* about binary search trees and the like.

I can't remember much of my CS stuff as it was so long ago and I haven't used it enough. Maybe that's the problem :-)

I spent a week studying and writing programs before my interviews. Recommend it, not least of all because re-learning is valuable.

You'll have to show me how you studied that fast. I studied for like 3 months for my interviews :/ and I felt like I barely scraped by.

I discovered trying to teach yourself enough of a CS degree to pass the interviews is hard if you haven't done it before. Lots to learn.

I'm 10 classes away from graduating but I feel my CS degree path has given me 0 value as a Software Engineer. My self study has.
