(except using google specific toolchain things) there is no "secret" to perf. Once you measure and quantify, perf wins become obvious.

My view is a bit different. The insight we had was: Perf-knowledge (like all knowledge) does not scale. Make it so people can’t fuck it up.

Right. It is important to understand, though, that is only works for established tech. You need 2-6 cycles to be able to be prescriptive.

I open up my iPad like ~1.5x per week. The sheer volume of data required to update the 4 or 5 apps begging for it is *unbelievable*.
