Keep waiting for web developers to realize that Shadow DOM is the "modules for CSS" they've all been waiting for and _freak out_.

There's no 'style encapsulation' as such, because Shadow DOM takes document styles. Basically, it's not like an iframe.

I guess Heydon expects <x-h2><h2></x-h2> not to be affected by h2 { font-style: italic } on the same page, in your case <h2> is hidden in JS
