If your site has more than 500k of JS (uncompressed), you don't get to look down on "jQuery developers".
And this is mostly about mobile and initial load; I'd love it if what we were discussing is how much to load on route changes!

Also, we HAVE good mechanisms for code splitting. HTML Imports are great for this! Shame about Mozilla... /cc

All the leading edge browsers can handle several megabytes of JS functionality once it's loaded and parsed. The dance is before it runs.
