:) JS parse times on high-end phones + laptops vs. low-end/average are _so_ different. Hope we see more real-device testing as folks realizepic.twitter.com/uxMJQQ1FM1

What's this graph showing the parse time of? A specific tool? Or size of JS?
1MB of uncompressed JS over WebPageTest + real devices. Parse time calculated using the method mentioned lower down in my JS startup perf
Given that the higher order bit is clearly the safari vs chrome, I hope this will improve. It must improve. Too much difference.
I think you've misinterpreted this data. Its not showing the dif between safari and chrome, but rather devices of different power
I know, but there’s powerful androids (Galaxy Note II p.e) that perform much worse than even the IP 5c (which has a CPU from from 2012)
I highly recommend you watch https://youtu.be/4bZvq3nodf4 from @slightlylate. Does a great job explaining why advertised power !== actual power
I know about it. But even in my own desktop, my test suite runs 70% faster in safari than chrome. Same device. That’s almost twice as fast.
Would love to understand more about this test. On like-for-like hardware, we believe V8 to be competitive.
Sorry, I can’t share the test. It’s just a test suite on a big ember app. To be fair, since chrome 58-59 chrome is improved a lot. turbofan?
Yes. TF + Ignition help speed up the slow paths and Ember spends a *lot* of time on the slow paths.
