While i'd give an instant LGTM on this, we can't do that as it would break like 20% of the internet, where code relies on this.

Most of that is due to bugs in essential libraries, that "self heal" via js semantics.

Any official mechanism for *deprecating* JavaScript features would be useful, even if they're never totally removed.

+1. I consider the "one JS" push in ES6 -- like HTML 5's "versionlessness" iteration -- to be a major mistake in the long run.
