For most sites, a good http2 CDN with server-push would make them far faster than a from-scratch rewrite in hand-optimized js.

Very few. Requires same host fronting app & assets instead of separate CDN host. CloudFlare can do it. Hope more will.

"very few": Google CDN & Akamai have blog posts about server push tech, but neither has it available even as beta.

@mrkdxn doesn't support server push yet https://www.maxcdn.com/blog/http2-support/ …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
afaik Cloudflare is only CDN that supports server push. Google App Engine supports it but not as CDN (I think)

Alex linked to a post with Akamai's announcement of a push beta: https://blogs.akamai.com/2016/04/are-you-ready-for-http2-server-push.html … unless that ended?

but as they've put out a lot of materials on server push (e.g. http://conferences.oreilly.com/velocity/devops-web-performance-ca/public/schedule/detail/49890 …) assume it's live

: "as a CDN" makes progressively less sense every year. H/2 prefers single endpoint, which means edge termination

Yes, but not a ton published on this. Took me a while to convince people here to try it. And not turn-key to do.
