@tabatkins if I set up a grid layout and then modify the grid based on a click, will browsers animate in between?

Kinda. It'll animate track sizes if possible, but won't animate element positions

Right. Can only animate computed values of properties, but grid pos boils down to integer.

And we didn't think it was useful for it to jump from cell to cell, so we ruled out animation entirely.
