I thought it was obvious that the combination of HTTP and DNS makes the web a fundamentally centralizing force. Who is this news to?
@asolove No idea. I'll say this, though: the ability to name more things without contention does not necessarily reduce contention on names

@slightlylate Normal users with static IPs means they can name themselves via DNS. More participation trumps reducing contention. -
@asolove imagine what that looks like in practice though...more like a Sonos or Apple "local device network" than a public naming system.
