There's a debate in my mentions about how producing simpler HTML/CSS w/ a sprinkling of JS indicates "mastery". Yes and no. Starting with the simpler system reduces the amount to get one's arms around, making you look like a genius more often.

The *most* important part of starting from mastery of a smaller system is that it gives you confidence to question choices in larger systems when they don't serve you well. It also lets you question the need for larger systems when smaller ones will do.

Given I started writing websites before Firefox & web apps I kinda agree. Yet, I also find it hard to put myself in the position of a jr engineer, who has never used anything but ES6. Their simple tool is create-react-app

That is their tool...but it is not a simple one. ``` slightlyoff:/tmp > npx create-react-app blarg npx: installed 99 in 5.131s ... slightlyoff:/tmp > cd blarg/node_modules/ slightlyoff:/tmp/blarg/node_modules > find . | wc -l 38166 ```

There are always limits. You just reach them earlier.
