It's also a terrible analogy because some of the winningest coaches are indeed huge assholes. You're not even here to have the actual discussion. Just say we're some big meanies and go. I won't lose any sleep.

I celebrate improvement. If you're getting closer to the mark, I'll cheer that even if you're missing. It's the not caring about hitting the target that's a problem.

That's a super reasonable position, but there are toolchains focused specifically on this problem. React OOTB can be better, Dan is even tweeting in your defense. But if I stumble onto your tweet, I certainly wouldn't find the fix.

Because people don't need to make their timeline a technical manual. Turns out they can talk about whatever the fuck they want to.

Oh, is it 2005? Did I just arrive on Facebook? Because this isn't a super fucking tired argument yet. Say public shit, take public shit. The worst part about this is that I didn't say he was wrong. I said it was counterproductive.

Hey, whoa, pump the breaks. The way you’re approaching this isn’t productive. The goal is to reduce toxicity in our industry by speaking up. I appreciate getting involved, but if more toxicity is the result of this thread then I made a mistake in speaking up.

Ben no offense but you're still using to shallow a lens for this stuff. It's not speaking up or not speaking up that creates toxicity. But neither does naming the actual problems. What does is when people choose sides and fight based on group affiliation rather than the issues.

Alex is calling out a real problem in the react community as he sees it. But because he wasn't "nice" about it, none of us actually end up talking about the issue. Not even you. You could be using your energy to actually demonstrate how you want to see this talked about.

You could be using your energy to reach out to the people responsible and give them the guidance and advice that Aaron swears doesn't exist unless it's in a tweet. You and Aaron both could be doing anything else except worrying about one tweet from Alex Russel.

But if you want to spend your time doing this, as though Alex is the reason things are messed up, then you need to accept that there are people who don't agree with that analysis and are willing to back Alex up. And you're gonna end up feeling like you need to chose a side.

The only side I want anyone to pick is the user's side.
