I don't usually do this, but it's about public health and this site is getting a lot of press and HOLY !*#$ WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE REACT COMMUNITY!?: https://www.webpagetest.org/result/200419_RQ_7d92404e9fc558919d13effd65fde874/ …

This really has nothing to do with the “React community”.

It's a curious claim. A community that venerates things other than speed and then widely produces unusably slow experiences for *most* users has...what? A tooling issue? An individual responsibility problem?

Yes. What I have posted to twitter is but the smallest sliver of the near endless parade of broken-by-JS experiences that cross my desk. It's a demoralizing, endless line of the same brokenness, over and over and over.

What exactly is a curious claim? The same kind of bloat can happen in just about any modern front end platform. React itself has literally nothing to do with it. Chill with the blanket cliams.

I trace a lot of sites built on a lot of stacks. What's I'm reflecting here is years of experience; this is the rare trace I allow myself to post here. The distribution of good vs. bad is markedly worse in React-land than in other ecosystems.

“The community” does not produce any web sites or experiences, good or bad. Only individual developers/teams do that.

I agree with you, @slightlylate, but when we're hired to deliver features, there's frequently lot of BikeShedding and programers are frequently asked to "just make *it* work". No time for architecture allowed unless there's a good vibe and engineering culture.

Implying every single react developer is in "the community" or even if he/she is, cares about what "the community" says. Hackernews and reddit comments show this is clearly not the case. It's the same as always. Shitty developers will create shitty apps, no matter the tooling.
