Custom Elements now used on more than 7% of page loads in Chrome: https://chromestatus.com/metrics/feature/timeline/popularity/1689 … That's more than any of: Cache Storage, TextDecoder, CSS Grid, <input type="email"> or <input type="password">, or http://window.open ()https://twitter.com/slightlylate/status/1251406941818982401 …
I get it -- frontent furiously chases a 5-year-old idea of what the future could be while ignoring the present, but here's some data: https://chromestatus.com/metrics/feature/timeline/popularity/1692 … https://chromestatus.com/metrics/feature/timeline/popularity/1693 … Grid's the young pup (5%) vs the 70% Flexbox juggernaut, but growing faster.

This data says that since Jan 2019, Flexbox gained more page loads than Grid in absolute terms. Flexbox went from 58% in Jan 2019 to 70% today, capturing 12 points of share. Grid went from 1.5% in Jan 2019 to 5.1% today, capturing less than 4 points of share.

Grid's *rate* of growth is much sharper. That's likely down to flexbox hitting saturation, but again, I wouldn't be betting against grid given this data. At best it's ambiguious.
