Y'all are watching Apple knife the web to death, one cut a day for a decade. We're way past a thousand cuts, and they sure had help from FB.

There's no conspiracy. Everyone is doing what incentives suggest absent fair rules of the road. It's slow erosion. Apple killed browser competition because it helps cement native + fears about insecure runtime. FB undermines browser choice on Android for similarly narrow reasons

The correct metric is average delay. Celebration of small, incremental wins is good if it doesn't distract from that focus.

While this Is ABSOLUTELY true, there are VERY few people working on WebKit full time .It’s important that outside companies contribute to WebKit either directly or through a company like @igalia .Apple consistently treats Safari as its unwanted child Cc @briankardell

I'm not sure what, exactly, Mozilla thinks it's doing while Rome burns. My question: where is the tech press? @backlon, @stshank, and @ow cover this with more thoughtfulness than most, but even they pull punches. I honestly can't square the circle.

I'm also watching chrome killing opera , edge and I don't want to see a google web. That doesn't mean you want this and I would be so happy to have other browser's engines on iOS, but let's face it, without iOS, you would be at the same market share as IE6

Um no. Sure, iPhones are the most popular devices but Safari didn’t have the kind of marketshare as IE.

Safari is the only Web browser you can use on the mobile experience that people herald as "the best". That's the same approach Microsoft took with IE. That combined with how far behind WebKit mainline is with things like Blink and Servo to providing modern Web functionality +
