What always baffles me are managers who hire aggressively for "industry standard" tools and not for a diversity of viewpoints. Probably depends. I can imagine that folks in positions where "technology is the product" have a different perspective than folks who "use technology to build their product." Said more simply: tech companies vs retail/ food and beverage/ etc...
