if wc interop adds so much as a single kb i would personally prefer a react variant in /dist that goes without. wc, classes, synthetic events and polyfills removed would perhaps shrink it
It only doesn't work because React is carrying around a stupid (large) allow-list of properties. Just bad architecture showing cracks.
Preact had the wc interop and lower on size, not shipping modern JS version targets yet (there isn't really a spec for it yet) but the lack of event polyfill (react-synthetic event system) pops up in issues form time to time so there's a use case for it.
