I think @allafarce sends me public-sector sites to trace to punish me for my misbegotten optimism a decade ago that, if we made JS better, experiences would improve.

Seeing what y'all do to these, the least of our brothers and sisters, with the tools we give you makes me plot ways to take them away until you prove you will first do no harm.

But Alex, surely DX will confer an equal material benefit on UX?

I'm probably going to be preaching to the choir here, but lately I've really come to deeply appreciate the notion of "making the best choice the easiest choice." That's how the various tools that have won have done it, albeit with different goals.

Is there good instrumentation/monitoring for connection speeds similar to device yet?

We have put some of what the client sees into the netinfo API:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Network_Information_API …
Analytics can log that out. I'm not sure how much of this is available via CrUX yet. @cheneytsai may know.

CrUX does expose effective_connection_type as a field where you could see how much traffic is in which bucket and the associated CrUX Speed metrics. You can then query to see say 4G:3G ratios for a mobile for a particular origin. (I see 95:5 often)
