100% agree: IE6 was amazing and NN4 was awful. Maybe MS's biggest mistake was not deprecating their proprietary stuff early, once equivalent standards came about. Now they're stuck maintaining IE5 backward-compatibility in every subsequent browser for 20+ years.

As for not investing, I agree that is a real problem (for which the new Edge browser is finally making amends). But why did they stop investing? Can you say for sure that Google will never stop investing in Chrome?
