Animation systems that aren't already planning this move are gonna be legacy pretty shortly.

Do you know if there have been any changes in public signals from Firefox and Safari since this page was updated? https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5762982487261184 …
-
They were all in the room at last discussion (TPAC) and have been collaborating on design for years. But far behind on worklet infra: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Worklet … That said, they don't feel threading mistakes as badly: either high-end mobile (Safari) or mostly desktop users (FF).

What if my custom animation system already runs off the main thread (think WebGL in a worker)? Will I have access to Animation Worklets from there? Aside: are these primitives suitable for animation use cases that aren't necessarily acting on DOM nodes?
-
Sub-workers are (or will be?) available. No generic way to hook up AW, tho. Specific to moving CSS positioned stuff via compositor thread.

@popmotionjs any plans for this? -
Yeah I’ve been looking into it. But as I understand it the API is still in flux, I think cross-browser implementation in 2020 is wildly optimistic. But would love to be proven wrong, I’m more excited about this than pretty much anything.

I wonder if physics based animation libs like
@mattgperry's@framer motion or react spring can take advantage of this !? -
