Right, and our theory going into ES6 development (I co-lead the team that proposed promises/async-await, classes, etc.) was that by upgrading the baseline, we'd be able to remove cruft. Can we mark those beliefs to market and come away happy today?
I feel like the story isn't finished yet. Different parts of the story are still be written in groups that are not collaborating as much as they could be. A small divergence, such as specifiers, can make a future without requiring transpilation for development impossible
Thesis: TC39 isn't moving fast enough on necessary components to make "let's bet the farm on modules" story plausible. Convince me I'm wrong!
