DiDi sent me promo text message for the first time since I installed it in Shanghai... I am, in a area DiDi is available... question is, how do they know. (My app is set to “location only when using” and I have not open app for months) I mean it could be coincidence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This might be an interesting follow-up indeed. After seeing Android's prompt about access to location in background, I think we could work out a solution too. Ideally, done in a way that doesn't bombard you with prompts for all the things :)

It’s coincidence. I get these annoying DiDi SMS in Germany and was never using their app or site on an Android device, only the iOS app.
