Foodies: how do you cook salmon (shallow fry) without choking on the awful fumes??? (and no, we checked the pan)

As a Norwegian where we have tons of the stuff. I never fry it. Buy whole cuts, bring very salt water to boil, turn heat to minimum and add the salmon. Let it sit for 5-8 min. Salmon also works well in creamy fish soup. Or just eat it raw.
