Ultimately you still need to convince them to implement specs to have an interoperable web though. I don’t know the politics, but it seems like if you need to convince them either way, helping an under funded team implement the ever increasing number of standards would be helpful

We weren't able to convince them on new features from within -- Hades knows we tried -- so we picked a future where we could lead by example. Fraught, but I think on balance the right call.

How much of this decision to fork was to avoid additional privacy safeguards impacting double click and user behaviour tracking Google can do in a browser they control? Will cross site cookies restriction hurt everyone the same way or Google’s ads platform a bit less than others?
