Web Developers coming up in the past 5 years, did you learn HTML or JavaScript first?

I agree to an extent, but only if the person in question is 100% certain they want to do front-end web development. Learning JavaScript first just opens you up to so much more. My initial frustration with this space was because a lot of people insisted on teaching me html (1/x)

Even when I wasn't making a lot of progress on the design aspect of front-end development. It never was my thing, still isn't. The C++ community was too gate-keep-ey and the Python community was too pedantic for a beginner. This eventually forced me into having Ruby as my (2/3).

, I finished a CS degree, followed by a Masters in Software Engineering. I wanted to scale what I was building. To accomplish this required deeper expertise on the server side. More programming. More engineering.
Eventually more operations too.
