Send me a link to a device that you think represents low-powered devices now and in the near future and I’ll buy one, rig a cam on it and get cracking

Nokia 2. Nokia 8110 for extra cookie points.

Lovely! Although I'd say use both. Nokia 8110 is hyper constrained but running FF48 (which has SW support, btw!), so there aren't as many APIs to screw up performance with. Nokia 2 is modern stable Chrome/FF on hardware from 2011. It's like putting square wheels on a Porsche.

Also, Nokia 8110 4G is a feature phone with really small screen, without touch, not sure many people browse the Web with it, at least in Europe. I bought one, but don’t use it really often. I should by a Nokia 2.1.

I know you said Europe, but the wealthy western web doesn't really need to be optimized for. Feature phones (like the Jio phone) are _incredibly_ popular in India and similar markets right now! 400 million(!) feature phones are projected to be sold in India this year alone.

Most of those won't be able to browse the web, but there's a growing fraction that are web based thanks to KaiOS. Best to separate them.

KaiOS is a much larger stretch on a tech basis; aging Firefox version (where is Mozilla on this?), dpad, etc. Probably good to support spatial nav, but we should think about KaiOS as being a bit outside the mainstream until engine gets more evergreen.

I don't think that'd ever happen, and the fact KaiOS "pure navigation" works only from its store is another penalty card. You can't create reasonable UI / Web Apps with a mouse that goes its own way, and I've abandoned this long time due lack of support.https://github.com/WebReflection/navikeytor#readme …
