If killing desktop support is really necessary in order to support mobile well I think the entire web is a failed experiment

I don't think it's necessary to kill desktop support, but webdevs are *only* doing desktop-compatible work now, which is an even larger failure. We can get both by stating from mobile constraints, but not the other way 'round.

The term "responsive" should just be given back its original meaning in a mobile-first context, since traditional "responsiveness" as non-web devs understand it is super important in that context.
