35k for a single critical-path library, or hundreds of K on the average site, is inconsistent with a web worth wanting.

There's been a ton of progress in tools and the platform, but it's not translating into the change we need. It's past time to start interrogating that. We're all in the web together. Slow sites one link away *affect engagement with your site too*.

I understand what you are trying here, but extremely not comfortable with this analogy. Humanity can survive the web going away, but not the planet.

I'm not sure why you're comfortable with the web disappearing. All of its potential replacements (to date) are worse for the world.
