How do you see the relation and impact of the extensible web manifesto and introduction of low level apis to this situation?

Fraught, but not in strict opposition to progress. E.g., we explained how HTML elements work via Web Components, and now there’s a “free” component model you don’t have to ship a copy of down the wire. In other areas, we’re moving things off the main thread via extensibility.
