It's hard not to fall in love with this way of getting around. There's (functioning, free) wifi at 300kph (180mph), (good) food for purchase, clean seats/kit (which is how you know it's not the TGV), and omg everyone is so kind and helpful.

The Koban (cop) patrolling through the car stopped at my seat. I'm *obviously* not from around here & he leaned over and said "in 5-10 minutes, you'll be able to see Mt. Fuji from your seat" then left with a smile. Imagine that interaction with a cop on transit in the US.

Biggest change from Shinkansen trips in years past: massive increase in the number of houses and businesses with solar. I'm in the future, yo.
