Realizing JS-first community denial of the costs being externalized into NBU and mobile due to pervasively terrible performance *is NIMBYism*. Arguing against what can make space for the next generation to succed for one's own comfort == "neighborhood character"pic.twitter.com/JrLQqZQW8p

Nobody's saying they *don't* want more housing (or a usable web for folks at the low end)...it just has to be done "the right way" (that is, without any change or inconvenience).

Just stop already. Give us better tools or expect obsolescence. It’s that simple, and devs have features to ship. It has nothing to do with preserving our own comfort: I’ve lost count of all the wildly new things I’ve learned in my career.

Or I mean, give us nothing. Plenty of web devs shipping awesome shit with Vue, Ember and React. Stop getting mad at devs for not using stuff they never asked for in the first place.

I get it, but I don’t think it works. Devs aren’t showing up at planning meetings trying to prevent fast web sites. They’re just not making things fast.

They *absolutely* show up to the product planning meeting when someone says "you need to switch framework". But agree, not a perfect analogy.

For other out-of-touch and/nor non-native speakers out there are about to google for these acronyms: NBU: Next Billion Users NIMBY: Not In My Backyard Nimbyism: opposition by residents to development that is built close to them that they'd support were it built elsewhere.
