The performance benefits of their new architecture aren't down to hybrid or not, it's about using the tech we put into the web platform *better* (full disclosure: have done on/off-again perf analysis for them leading up to the launch)

What makes (web) apps fast is knowing the underlying platform and hewing to it's constraints.
Don't throw static initializers into your C++ and don't cache network assets badly in your web app
