I'm not sure how that changes the author's assessment, though. Android is a privacy train wreck but it's hard to suggest people switch when iOS is expensive and only marginally better.

Yeah we should definitely hold a mega-corp with a search monopoly to the same standards as other apps. Nothing to see here folks. Google's not doing anything wrong cuz other people are also doing fishy things. Move along.
