That sounds great. I could see NSM used as a google search incentive instead of AMP, because meeting NSM's targets incrementally is much easier than "hey, rewrite your entire website in our special new dialect of HTML" and users will appreciate having faster loads from NSM.

I always viewed AMP through this lens, coming at it from the wrong direction. To a degree the issue is really not technology, it's incentives and process. Rewarding incremental speed-up is good and even if AMP is "fast" it's not the only fix or speedup possible, nor the cheapest
