To me CustomElements V1 is the API that would have benefited most from origin trials. It was specced unpolyfillable (relying on ES6 syntax) which real dev exposure would have immediately found. I'm glad we got syntax, but Web Components should only have ever used it as an optional shortcut for proto swizzling. V1 design is not sufficiently better for the lost time.
