Of course, this is not a new position, and hardly a surprise given the tension that Google is an ad business, and web users want to avoid ads. We as a community need to square the circle of security, performance, privacy while giving content creators a sustainable biz model.

Hey Bruce, this article leans into speculation and innuendo and buries the lede, which is that this is the same basic approach as Apple takes and that the team is honestly working to understand the perf impact of larger list sizes.

Sure, and I'm with you there! That doesn't read on the question of the motivation for these changes or the accuracy of this article, tho (which, to be clear, is grossly misrepresenting the situation by innuendo and shoddy headline writing).
