The synchronous require semantics were my early mistake; luckily James convinced us all to go with the AMD style. IIRC, they'd even excised the baggage by ~'10 or '11. Node never made this turn.

require.async was a thing. We shouldn't state as much as is being stated as if Node wasn't following the CJS specs which were made in part by prominent spec ppl. Placing blame doesn't help anyone and just sows aggression. The Google group ML did not get "warned" to my knowledge
