As one of the people who has pushed hardest on browser evolution, the deadweight losses are pretty obvious to me. Don't expect others to see them, or my perspective to be broadly accepted, tho.

I mean Node (and NPM) is basically the reason for JavaScript's explosive growth in usage over the past 10 years. It is a major part of the reason we are having this conversation right now, rather than, sharpening up our Swift skills.

As much as I'd love Node.js to take all the credit, The Web has been growing faster than any other technology since it was created and Node.js just extended that into the next space.
