What was the best technical interview you’ve ever had? Then conversely what was the worst? Be sure to point out which question you are answering. I’d love to find good ways to ensure when interviewing 1) the persons’ integrity 2) if stuck with a hard problem how they handle it

Having encountered one of these early on in my career and not realising their purpose, I was extremely disheartened to not be able to 'solve it'. Taking the same sort of interview years later, and feeling like I nailed it, was *so* gratifying.

That's why I'm always careful to tell people what I'm doing - I like to be transparent in interviews. I think it gives people a better experience, which is important when I'm also trying to convince them that they want to work with us!

The primary benefit to an engaged interviewer is that if it isn't an area of strength, you can move on to something else in the CV that might be. Goal is to find where folks shine, not where they're weak.

I think more junior folks (on both sides) tend to view interviewing as a "gotcha" game, rather than a two-sided search for fit. Doesn't serve either party.
