I spent 2 days when I was 17 years old making dozens of anime themes for X11. There's something about X11, especially when you're young, that you just can't believe how much you can customize it. I bet that's even more dramatic of a feeling nowadays.

It's actually sort of surprising there isn't an open X11 WebGL2 framework out there. Both QT and GTK skip the X11 layer when remoting.

I know, hahaha, right? Thankfully most dev interest has migrated over to the much more secure & coherently designed Wayland compositor. Way better use of kernel/drm primitives to get the job done right.
