So: turns out that YouTube is broken if you open it from an iframe with certain sandbox restrictions, because it's incapable of doing anything without JS (the restrictions persist across reloads, TIL). I sympathise! I can only imagine what is involved in each new feature. Sadly though, while I try and counter WC FUD and support them where possible (through Svelte), I can't in good conscience advocate for them as a general solution because of things like this
