People want to use JSX without a transpile step. Doesn’t seem weird to me.

At the same time, the web (overall) isn't succeeding on mobile. The data I see is more dire than it's ever been. Nobody will go to the web for anything in ~5 years. When it's a pervasively bad time, why would you? Standards are downstream of use.

For what it's worth, Raf's TC39 model was a sea-change in how TC39 standards are incubated, and your insight about transpilation (see Traceur) as an incubation vehicle proved right. More focus on incubation and getting feedback in incubation addresses legitimacy problems.
