I’m old enough to vaguely remember idle thought leaders complaining that abortable fetch violated some theoretical fundamental design aspect inherent to Promises. Or some such thing.
Anyway fetch is cancellable now!

FWIW, the reason I was inclined to take TC39 up on moving Promises out of DOM (even though it was in the critical path for Service Workers) was that we could eventually get `async`/`await` syntax; something my team had proposed in '11 but which failed then.
