There is no truer litmus test of a web developer's understanding of mobile vs. desktop in 2018 than their opinion of Web Components readiness. Desktop devs over-index on IE/Edge while mobile (future) oriented folks are like "yeah, of course they're available".

Are you saying that developers who are (rightfully) concerned about desktop support are the "past" and developers who live in a mobile only world are the "future"?

I'm saying that desktop is not growing and that while it's a big and important market, what works for desktop doesn't work for mobile. So we have to reset our baseline expectations.

...and that means resetting our expectations of our tools and our practices. Legacy desktop frameworks and approaches aren't functional on mobile
