There is no truer litmus test of a web developer's understanding of mobile vs. desktop in 2018 than their opinion of Web Components readiness. Desktop devs over-index on IE/Edge while mobile (future) oriented folks are like "yeah, of course they're available".

We build hybrid apps and we aim to support 90% of the Android market, where Android 5.1 and below are actually more than 20% of the market. Also we can’t rely on auto-updating, because applications should work on a fresh system too.

That said, we are actually using WC with polyfills for old WebViews. However, they are quite big and not very robust (I refer to Shadow Dom and ShadyCSS specifically)
