And I don’t think this is a critic to the Chrome team, it’s a critic to the Web Platform as a whole, including Android that doesn’t seem to care about PWA’s health or there is not enough communication between the OS and browser’s vendors. I don’t know the problem, just the result
From a business point of view I had discussions with some companies about the risk of the Web Platform for PWA development. And I had to agree that based on these examples there is a risk of uncontrolled UX issues in the future. And the fix rate is too slow.
It's sure is a problem and when you add that Safari is almost useless for PWA it doesn't help at all.
Android 8 with Adaptive Icons was announced 19 months ago and released 14 months ago. I remember discussing with @Paul_Kinlan about the manifest, these icons and how to solve the white circle issue at that time. So now, 14/19 months later, a solution is coming. That’s my point
