Indeed. It’s so sad that we have so many single framework solutions, while we have #webcomponents. I really hope we can come together and make the web a more generic place (at least for developers 😉)https://twitter.com/maxlynch/status/1052580467877146624 …

Seeing all these design systems only for React come out makes me sad. That is a limitation we no longer have to have with web components.

#webcomponents don't solve the problem solved by frameworks - change detection: keeping UI in sync with a component state automatically. I wrote an in-depth post that explains the problem and shows how frameworks solve it #javascript #React #Angular https://medium.freecodecamp.org/what-every-front-end-developer-should-know-about-change-detection-in-angular-and-react-508f83f58c6a …

Web Components don't solve every problem. It's fine to bring a library for change detection and rendering. LitElement and lit-html do just that, for example.

I really like the solutions offered by @stenciljs. I feel that they make developing #webcomponents (and indeed #shadowdom) as easy as possible

My point is that Custom Elements and Shadow DOM don't need to solve every problem. So statements like "#webcomponents don't solve the problem solved by frameworks - change detection" are non-sequitor complaints. Web Components were never designed to obsolete every library.

As one of the people who started the WC effort, led the team for several years, and previously worked on frameworks, I can vouch for this statement. We only ever wanted to move "the action" up the stack. Solve *new* problems with our meager script budget.

thanks for the insight, can you please elaborate on `move "the action" up the stack`?

Platforms can take some of the pain and cost out of common infrastructure. E.g., we don't have to spend precious bytes on rounded corners hacks any more. Frees us up to do more.
